Crossing 4 decades in life: AAAAAAAAAAaaaggggh

May 7, 2008 / by ygermino

I am turning 42 this year. That over 4 decades! Whattt? 4 decades!

Well, it's not like I've been here for four centuries, otherwise I will be a relative or a lover of one of the lovers of the famous man from Transylvania.

I don't feel like it actually. Everyday when I look in the mirror, i see very little change... maybe because i am seeing myself everyday and gotten used to it already.  I also don't act like it, i feel in my heart that i am stuck on 28.....bwahahahahahah!

But, man, i tell you when you go pass by 40's........ when your body speaks... you must listen.

Last weekend me and my friend went to IKEA to get a simple cabinet and a TV rack. They were heavier combined. You probably know that in IKEA, these things comes in boxes for easy take-out.

As we were bringing it upstairs, i live on the 1st floor of the building but there actually is about 3 plights of stairs to take, my friend missed his steps and thought there is another one, lost his balance and ended up with his behind kissing the floor.  I had to make a quick reaction and probably hurt the muscles below my shoulder blades badly.

The pain did not go and i am getting worried so i decided to go to a specialist hospital, but unfortunately, because i had my turn past 2pm, specialist doctors are already out and i had to contend with a nurse quickly checking my blood pressure and pulse.

The reading was 135/80 and i was told not to worry, although it's a bit high.

So i was at work the following day, things are normal, but last night, i had a funny feeling. I was not getting enough sleep these days. I went home and had thought of making a nice meal for myself. Got some chicken breast and prepared to make fried chicken strips.

While eating and enjoying my meal, i felt a bit dizzy and could only suspect of my BP reading.

There is a nearby polyclinic near my house, but it looks pretty pathetic and i wouldnt trust them, so i decided to go to Balad and get on one of this electronic BP/Pulse machines.

Whoah, I got a reading of 141/90....... wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh.

I was told not to worry but i couldn't help it. At my age, i need to.

I ended up in the hospital near the place where i used to live. The doctor, Dr. Salahuddin from India was sympathetic and told me it's on the borderline, and i have to do some excercise and watch my food.

At the end, we decided to have a cholesterol check tomorrow and blood sugar test.

InshAllah, things will go fine.  I also have to take serious thoughts on having a regular exercise program, eating healthier ( i need to know more about vegetable juicing) and sleep more!!!!!

Goodness. Indeed take care. My moto is Rest is Best!

It is what I use for my self. And yes after 40, things/body/food/sleep. etc are a real different matter.

I do Yoga, move about my day with as much attention and body awareness as I can. I take love breaks and go out on my back deck, breathe in and long out breaths and smile and appreciate Nature. I chose what I watch on TV, I chose the people I want to be with and e-mail. well, conscious living I guess.

I use to do a juicer, but boy with todays $$$ unless you have the fruits and veggies available it'll cost a lot.

Take like a whole bag of carrots to make a few oz's of juice. They now have many options in our grocery stores of organic, and no sugar juices. Pomegranate is excellent.

Well do some research, take care!

    Blessings

    Ana
